Dale Davies

Dale Davies has written and told stories since he could first walk and talk. At 17 he was the Young Welsh Poet of the Year having published numerous poems in various publications throughout his life. He has seen his plays performed on a variety of stages from Cardiff to most recently at Maesteg Town Hall where he was commissioned to not only write the play Coal and Gold he also wrote the words and music for the Choral centre piece performed by two choirs jointly. Using his own experiences including growing up in East Africa Dale has spent years as a Story Teller which he maintains is his first love.

Living in Neath on the edge of the Waterfalls and the Brecon Becons Dale is a lifelong hill walker but his main pass time is mountaineering. He has climbed since being a child and has travelled all over the world from North Wales, Scotland to the French Alps, the Pyrenees, Italian Ice falls to the Himalayas. He thanks his father for his love of mountains who dragged him up every rock climb in the Llanberris Pass and Ogwen Valley as a child. Dale is married and now has children of his own two sons. As well as climbing and walking Dale has a passion for sailing and kayaking especially around the stunning Gower coastline.

Although not his first language Dale counts himself as fortunate to be able to speak Welsh and uses it daily as part of his career as a Police Sergeant on a Response Team in Swansea. In a varied career Dale has worked as despatch rider, reader in residence, motorcycle shop owner and for the past 17 years as a Police Officer where he recounts his most memorable incident as baby sitting a dead whale.
